Are WordPress websites more prone to security issues?

WordPress can be seen as a security risk because the admin dashboard is accessed directly in the web browser.  It is also one of the world’s most widely used CMS (Content Management Systems), making it an attractive target for devious hackers. Two big points of vulnerability are weak (or compromised) passwords and outdated software. The WordPress team does a great job continuously making updates to enhance the functionality of the platform and patching security issues.

Here are some ways to keep your WordPress website more secure:

  1. Perform updates on WordPress and the plugins you use regularly
  2. Create a secure password and update it every 2-3 months
  3. Remove all unnecessary user accounts and plugins not being used
  4. Make sure your website does not have any broken links
  5. Use software and plugins to enhance your security
